I brought my dog in bc he wasn't eating for two days and he had bloody excrement. Anyway, it turns out he had parvo, and I could excuse the wait time. I could deal with the horribly overpriced care. But what I CANNOT tolerate is the fact that he was sent home with a weak antibiotic commonly used for skin issues! I only found this out after going to another vet, Tansinbourne ER, who had much better prices and actual medicine. My dog is dying of some bacteria because this overpriced 'gem' gave him weak medicine for a lethal illness. Just beware of that before you put you furry baby's life in their hands.

Today marks 1 year since my sweet orange cat, Jinx, had emergency PU surgery at Tanasborne Veterinary Emergency. I am forever so grateful for the staff and surgeons that took care of him and saved his life. Jinx is so much happier and healthier today, and that’s entirely thanks to the amazing people at TVE. Thank you so so so so much. I don’t know what I would do without him.

I have been seeing Dr.H since 2019 and will follow Dr.Harrenstein wherever she goes.I was convinced I was going in to euthanize my exotic pet when I went in for our appointment.That was not the case and I have seen a 180 in my pets illness since that day and the treatment options we decided on.Please take your exotics here.I felt genuine compassion from Maddie the vet tech when explaining how dire the situation is.So thorough and kind.Also with the frequent check ins via text/phone and the dropping off of tools I needed at my house.I am so incredibly grateful for the exotics team here.Regardless of if my pet makes a full recovery I am grateful for the time they have given me with her due to their treatment plan.Thank you all so much 😢🤍

The staff are friendly and helpful, though the communication felt strained at times. They have to say and can’t say certain things which I feel keeps us away from a clear understanding of often incredibly fragile situations. I did not like my pet being looked at away from my presence. I did not like talking to a vet tech to relay my concerns to the vet. It felt like the game of operator where things got lost in translation. The vet I saw never discussed my original concerns and gave me another diagnosis. I also started to see that my pet was actively dying. I stated this to the vet tech who brought my pet back to the vet and I was once again told it was likely something else (though death was possible). My pet died 30 min after leaving the hospital. They had prescribed antibiotics which could have been given as first dose when the vet demonstrated tube feeding, but none were given then. I went in with the original concern of fading kitten due to either dehydration or over feeding/overhydration. In doing my research afterwards, I can easily see the symptoms match over-feeding and with a calm discussion and some math, we could have concluded that as a high possibility together. I’m not a vet and I can see this and could see my animal was dying. This vet just spoke fast and was clearly not seeing what I was. Ultimately I got answers from visiting tanisborne veterinary emergency but not as clearly from the vet, but in between the lines. The vet did say they suspected a virus that affects the lungs, which I think was correct, but, I think that made my tiny preemie more sensitive to over-feeding and this was never discussed and would require different treatment which was perhaps too late?! The remedy for over feeding is to hold all foods. Instead, my pet was given more. I understand their blood sugar was low, but sugars were administered. Overall, I felt the communication was just not good accept for the techs and staff who seemed more able to a bit.
